EUROPEAN STYLE BEACH HOUSE
With a distinctly European flavor, every day’s a vacation day at this beach house retreat. Designed and built with emphasis on low maintenance, the end result is you can enjoy your time at home without worrying about chores. A courtyard wall separates you from the quiet street and you enter through a whimsical wrought iron gate with a sun motif. Gardens and seating areas a la Provence are scattered in front and there is outdoor dining and a shady spot for hammocks under the cedars.
A smooth concrete floor downstairs is cool on the feet and neutral so that all styles of decor can be accommodated. Diffused sunshine lights up the large living room which opens to a covered porch overlooking the stand of cedars. The kitchen is large and has an informal dining area with a bank of windows looking out to the front courtyard. Easy access from the garage is handy for bringing in the groceries. A pass-through window to the main room keeps everyone in the loop during a gathering and a powder room is centrally located. Blond wooden stairs lead you to the sleeping quarters.
A treetop master with its big windows and lofty ceiling is a quiet oasis at the end of the day. With its own covered porch you can enjoy the afternoon sun and the breezes from the nearby Intracoastal Waterway. A deep jetted tub with a backsplash dotted with Spanish tiles will soak away your cares. Down the hall there are two bedrooms that share another lovely bathroom. Equidistant from the beach and the ICW, the shops and eateries of St Augustine Beach are minutes away. Indulge yourself…..
